Wow!!! What a HOG State Rally we had in Victorville. Several of our Bakersfield HOG members answered the call for help and volunteered to make the State Rally run smooth.
We had members working the registration area, selling tickets for an MDA raffle, hanging banners and most importantly, handing out Veteran’s Tribute Patches during a ceremony on Friday night. Those members who came to ride were treated to some great riding destinations and wonderful weather.
This turned out to be the largest HOG State Rally to date and Bakersfield HOG was instrumental in the success. My thanks to all of our members who showed up and helped.
Well, our chapter is moving right along. As of October 4th, Vikki and Boomer Montgomery are resigning their HOG Officer positions. I wasn’t thrilled by this but as I learned from Past Director Bobby Courtney, “where there’s a problem in Bakersfield HOG, there’s generally a solution.” I’m glad I listened to Bobby because after some thought and consideration, we came up with a solution.
Effective October 5th, R/C John Cleveland will fill Boomer’s shoes as a Head Road Captain and R/C Randy Coats will fill Vikki’s shoes as our Chapter Secretary.
HOG wants to thank the Montgomery’s for all of their hard work and dedication to our chapter and wish them well in their endeavors. Boomer has been asked to lead the newly formed charter of the American Legion Riders and will be busy building that club. Both Boomer and Vikki assured HOG that we can’t get rid of them that easy and they will be around on HOG events as much as they can.
HOG has been very busy with some great events and we have more to come. Of course, y’all know we have our Christmas Party coming up on December 5th. Before that we have the Rockin’ Ride for Life on Oct. 4th. We also have a Dinner Ride planned for Oct. 19th that will be a great time. Don’t forget about HOG Bike Night at Don Perico’s in Shafter on Oct. 9th and the Calico Ghost Town overnight ride to Stateline on Oct. 11th. There should be something you can squeeze into your busy schedule!!! Come out and see us and have a great time.
One quick announcement that just came up…at the General Meeting, I asked for some help for our monthly BBQ. Well, Black Sheep has stepped up again to help HOG. Black Sheep is going to take over the monthly BBQ and make sure it gets put on and cleaned up. Thanks to our Black Sheep brothers and sisters for taking this monthly endeavor.
Ride safe and see you soon!!!
