Well, the Christmas Party has come and gone… About 171 HOG members attended this year and it appeared a great time was had by all. We had a few “glitches” but we came through unscathed and will march on to 2009.
HOG is planning some great events for the upcoming year. We’re also planning a great meeting to kick it all off on January 22nd. We’ll be hosting a tribute to our Veteran’s so if you know a HOG veteran, make sure he/she comes to the general meeting. Our meetings will be in the same place…the American Legion Hall located at 2020 H Street in downtown Bakersfield. Check you HOG calendar for upcoming events. This is one you won’t want to miss.
We’re also preplanning for some calendar conflicts. For example…in May, our HOG General Meeting falls on Graduation Day for most of the local high schools. Because we have so many HOG members with families, we felt our meeting attendance would suffer so we’re backing up the meeting one week to the third week in May. We’ll make sure to announce this in the future before the date arrives.
HOG is also planning an overnight camp out. That’s right, a camp out. Many HOG members have recreational vehicles and take their bikes “camping.” The first weekend in June, we’ll be heading up to Casa De Fruta (just above Hollister, Ca.) for a camp out. The Casa has a small motel, along with a large RV park that will even accommodate tents if anyone is that brave. Look for some information coming up soon concerning that event.
Our HOG picnic is also in the planning stages and it looks like April 18th will be the big day. We’re keeping the venue the same as Jastro Park is centrally located and easy to get to.
Got an idea for a ride??? Get a hold of any HOG officer or Road Captain and let them know what you have in mind. If it’s feasible, we’ll “gitr done!”
